National Fitness Day 2026

We celebrate Active Against Cancer, a free NHS service

Happy National Fitness Day!

Today – Wednesday 16th September 2026 – is National Fitness Day, celebrated annually to raise awareness of the importance of staying active and leading a healthy lifestyle.

In honour of National Fitness Day, we’d like to celebrate Active Against Cancer, a free NHS health and wellbeing service which is available to all patients in the Harrogate district who have a cancer diagnosis or are receiving cancer treatment.

Following an initial assessment, all patients receive an exercise plan tailored to their specific medical needs. The service offers prehabilitation and rehabilitation classes at its sites in Harrogate and Ripon. All classes are run by highly-skilled cancer specialist physical trainers.

Patients can self-refer to the service or can be referred by a healthcare professional. At their first visit patients receive a one-to-one assessment before being given a personalised individual exercise programme.
