It’s a Knockout

Congratulations to the Macmillan Movers!

A team from the Sir Robert Ogden Macmillan Centre (SROMC) recently took part in – and WON! – the ‘It’s a Knockout’ tournament organised by Harrogate Hospital and Community Charity. The event, which took place on Sunday June 4th, was held at Harrogate Railway Athletic Football Club as part of the annual Summer Extravaganza and over 600 people attended the event. The family-friendly day out also included games, stalls, a bouncy castle and a delicious barbecue.

The SROMC team was called ‘Macmillan Movers’ and they put in a heroic performance tackling the inflatable team-based challenges. The ten-person team consisted of members of the Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) team – who are based at the SROMC – and their partners.

The team tackled four different courses, slipping down slides, crawling through tunnels and under nets, throwing balls through hoops and hoops over hooks. The team played their ‘joker card’ in the second course, guaranteeing them double points if they finished that section of the event in first place…which they did! It was a close call but they ultimately won the event by four points, winning medals, smart watches and toiletry travel kits.

The Macmillan Movers raised an impressive £200 for Harrogate Hospital and Community Charity. The Harrogate Hospital Community Charity team commented that, “It is through the charitable nature of teams such as the Macmillan Movers that we can continue to enhance the environment, services and experiences of all across #teamHDFT for many years to come.”
